New Jersey State Governor Jon Corzine, at a New York Building Congress luncheon September 21, spoke about securing infrastructure linking the two states that will become vital as more people migrate to the region. A long-time champion of the $7.2 billion dollar Trans-Hudson Rail Tunnel, Corzine promised the first shovel should be put in the ground by 2009.
The tunnel will run under the Hudson River, connect to a subterranean station opposite the current Penn Station, and provide transportation for 1.5 million people.
The tunnel is expected to ease pressure on the transportation arteries currently clogged around the city and help prevent blockages ...
