The Rev. Jim Anderson had hit the wall. The 30-year-old Evangelical Free Church pastor had been working day and night as a "church planter" in Iowa, starting a new congregation and serving the new parishioners and their community. It was good work, and work he loved. But it was also endless.
"I never stopped," he said. "I wore myself out. Finally I collapsed from fatigue, and was sick with mono and hepatitis."
It took Anderson, who said he "comes from a long line of workaholics," some time to recover and to realize that he needed time away from his 24/7 responsibilities, not just for his own sake, but for those of his family ...
