Domestic violence vigil to be held Tuesday.

Oct. 17--Thirteen women have died from domestic violence abuse in Yuma County since 2001 -- almost half of them just this year.Yuma County prosecutors fought against roughly 1,000 cases in one year. The Yuma Police Department received almost 2,000 domestic violence reports in 2005.And a local domestic violence shelter fielded more than 3,000 calls from throughout the county last year.According to the county attorney's office, domestic violence deaths are on the rise throughout Yuma County.However, Melissa is not included in those statistics.A survivor of domestic violence, identified only as Melissa, said it took her two or three ...
