A year ago, Mary Zellmer and her son, Jim, a diabetic, held a pumpkin fundraiser at the Mill Creek Golf Course to raise money for diabetes research.
It was cold, windy and rainy and a lot of people took a long weekend for the Columbus Day holiday.
And they still raised $6,000.
"Everything that could have gone wrong did but it was still a huge success," recalled Mary Zellmer, who lives in Mill Creek. "I was blown away."
Saturday the Zellmers are hoping for even better results as their "Pumpkins for a Cure" fundraiser moves into its second year at a much larger venue.
