Article: Upward drive maintained. (Pakistan's stock market)

The stock market during the month showed an upturn and the General Index of share prices compiled by State Bank touched the highest on January 20, at 279.47 with aggregate market capitalisation of Rs. 403.654 million on the same date. Turnover of shares increased from 168.534 million in December 1993 to 236.211 million in January 1994 showing a rise of about 40 per cent.
