This is an impressive attempt by Belgrade intellectuals to explain -- in English -- the real, historic causes of what is going on in former Yugoslavia, edited by Miss Bizerko, a formidable former official of the then Yugoslav Foreign Ministry. The authors, fervently opposed to the present regime in Belgrade, have taken a not inconsiderable risk. There are nine authors explaining in Part One the true historical, and above all psychological, background to the break-up, the essential issue being that Yugoslavia was 'defeated from the inside', when after the end of 'Titoslavia' the Slovenes and Croats refused to go along with the Serbs.
