The limited service restaurant pizza category posted 3.5% growth among the top 500 restaurant chains as ranked by 2006 Technomic Top 500 Chain Restaurant Report. This growth represents a $16.9 billion increase in sales.
PIZZA HUT, the top ranked pizza chain, operates more than 12,500 outlets in more than 90 countries. It is part of YUM! BRANDS, INC., which also includes KENTUCKY FRIED CHICKEN, TACO BELL, LONG JOHN SILVER'S and A & W RESTAURANTS. Total stores increased from 2004 to 2005 in the U.S. and internationally, from 7,500 to 7,566 units and from 4,528 to 4,701 units, respectively.
