HARNESS racing--colloquially but not quite accurately known as trotting--ranks as a big-money sport in Canada, France and the United States. Yet in Britain, home to so many horsey activities, it has never managed to attract a significant national following.
If Richard Muddle achieves his ambition, this will change. On Saturday April 9th the first of a series of fortnightly evening trotting meetings was held before a rained-thinned crowd at his new Pounds 15.3m ($22.6m) racecourse at Dunstall Park at Wolverhampton.
