Oct. 19--WAUKESHA -- After watching and being unable to stop two pit bulls from viciously attacking her 5-month-old puppy, Andrea Rummery is on a mission to have the breed banned from the city.
Pit bulls are banned in Denver and restricted in Kansas City, and many other people have raised the issue of keeping pit bulls out of their communities after attacks. Pit bulls were involved in the most bite-related fatalities, 66, of humans from 1979 to 1998, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The breed responsible for the second-most bite-related fatalities during the same period was Rottweilers, with 39.
