The labeling of flavors for coffee is regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Manufacturer's trade practices today are to label natural only if all the ingredients in the compound are derived exclusively from the named flavor.
Where the ingredients are engineered by man (not found in nature) the flavoring compound is artificial. Where the named flavor is from the named source (i.e. vanilla from vanilla bean only) and other ingredients are natural (found in nature) rather than synthetic the labeling may read "Natural With Other Natural Flavors."
