I'm going to give you a quick-and-dirty outline for typical HDV and DVCPRO-HD (P2) workflows, from HD capture to SD output to DVD authoring. The only difference between the two workflows will be the ingesting, since output for SD DVD authoring will be the same for both.
Please remember that this is just an overview; I'm skimming over a lot of details due to the limited space of this column, but it should be enough information to get you working with HD material properly.
