Any newcomer to the world of scholarly publishing is justified in feeling a bit baffled. In fact, open access (OA) has many people (old-timers in the industry, newcomers, and even folks on the sidelines) feeling overwhelmed by all the esoteric terminology; they're finding it increasingly difficult to follow the latest developments.
