AUSTRALIAN GOVT'S SPENDING ON AWB LEGAL FEES REACHES US$1 MLN
CANBERRA - Foreign Minister Alexander Downer's department has spent almost $A1.3 million ($US980,395) on legal fees for the inquiry into AWB's (ASX:AWB) Iraq kickbacks.
The final figure is expected to be much higher, with that amount covering the first five months of Commissioner Terence Cole's investigation of the $A290 million in illicit payments made by the wheat exporter.
