Oct. 19--Bank of Israel deputy governor Prof. Zvi Eckstein told a the annual Kibbutz Industry Association conference today that Israel's GDP per capita was half that of the US. "We should aim to reach to 80 percent of US GDP per capita and we are quite capable of achieving this," he said

Eckstein added that with 4 percent growth the country would not move forward. "The economy must grow by 5 percent a year to reach this target within 20 years." The theme of this year's Kibbutz Industries Association conference is "Industry as a vehicle for realizing social objectives."
