Oct. 21--Tonight at the Colket Center of Roanoke College the Kisumu Committee of Roanoke Sister Cities will celebrate the 30th anniversary of its relationship with Kisumu, the third-largest city in Kenya.
Speakers will include Bill Robertson, a former Roanoker who was head of the Peace Corps in Kenya from 1976 to 1978; Phoebe Asiyo, a former Kenyan parliament member and now goodwill ambassador for the United Nations Development Fund in Kenya; and other officials.
Entertainment will include African dancing.
It all sounds good-hearted and peaceable, as it should.
