HONG KONG -- Star Television heralded the start of what is expected to become a series of announcements in coming weeks about its long-awaited package of subscription channels with word that it is beginning a Mandarin-language movie channel.
Some American networks executives speaking at the 1994 Pan Asia Satellite & Cable Television conference here questioned whether it is wise for their services to be part of either Star's subscription package or another proposed by TVB International. But MTV Networks used the conference to drop word of two new upcoming channels for Asia.
