Oct. 22--I kept looking for flecks of gold in the seafood pescatore at Cala Bella, an upscale Italian restaurant at the new Rosen Shingle Creek Resort. There were some lovely shrimp, firm and fresh-tasting; one impressively large scallop and a couple of smaller ones, all delicious; some littleneck clams and a few mussels; and freshly made pappardelle noodles, just the right thickness so as to be chewy but not doughy. And all were served in a delicate broth kissed with tomatoes and a bit of peppery spice. But there was no gold or pearls or anything else that could possibly have justified the $40 charge.
