Oct. 22--DART and the city of Dallas are near agreement on the type of trains that would run along a Cotton Belt rail line, but the two sides remain farther apart on whether those trains should run in an open channel that could cost $77 million to $250 million. Although negotiations continue, tensions have eased. City officials vowed Saturday not to fire their eight Dallas Area Rapid Transit board members at a special council meeting called for Monday morning to discuss the situation.
