Carphone Warehouse, the mobile phone retailer that's offering free broadband to its subscribers, faces an operating loss of 70 million [pounds sterling] ($129.7 million) in 2007, compared to the 50 million [pounds sterling] ($92.7 million) it had forecast last April. It turns out that the company's offer of "free" broadband offer has resulted in a higher-than-expected uptake. That's forced the company to hire hundreds of additional employees in its call centers.

Carphone CEO Charles Dunstone is expected to issue a statement later this week.
