Oct. 23--POWDERLY -- One day during her senior year at the old Hughes-Kirk High School, Pat Sweatt was asked by the principal to substitute teach a first-grade class for two days. Sweatt said Charles Eades knew she helped care for her younger siblings while growing up the oldest of seven children in Browder. She found she enjoyed teaching and the students, most of whom she already knew. "We rode the bus together," Sweatt said with a laugh. "I think that sparked my interest," she said.
