Oct. 21--Polk County's jobless rate dipped to 3.8 percent last month as the labor market settled into its seasonal pattern of low unemployment.

September's rate, the lowest recorded in Polk for that month, was down from 4.2 percent the year before and 4.0 percent in August, according to the Florida Agency for Workforce Innovation.

"Certainly, September is when we expect unemployment rates to fall from the summer," said Kevin Brickey, an economist with the Hillsborough County Office of Management and Budget who follows Polk.
