The shouting match has moved from the board room to the courtroom as the Regional Transit Authority and Tower City Development Inc. tussle over who should pay what costs for the rapid station in the bowels of the downtown shopping mall.
Last week, RTA filed a countersuit against Tower City that seeks more than $28 million in damages from the developer, which built the rapid station for RTA under a fixed-price contract signed in 1988. Although the station has been an operational success for the RTA, the agency has feuded with Tower City for years over how much it owes for the project.
