Some of the oldest paper manufacturers in the United States and around the world are producing paper for some the newest printing technologies. For example, French paper manufacturer Arches traces its origins back to 1492. Canson was launched in 1557. Both companies are now part of Arjowiggins, based in France, with worldwide distribution of traditional fine art papers, as well as papers and substrates for digital inkjet and large-format commercial, fine art, and photo printing.
German company Hahnemuhle was founded in 1584, and still provides fine art and digital fine art (DFA) papers under its own well-known brand, as well as under the Lumijet label.
