Nicollet, Minn. -- Sprawling Swan Lake - the largest prairie pothole marsh in the nation and one of Minnesota's premier waterfowl waters - is renowned for its ducks.
But it was helicopters and carp that drew the attention of waterfowl hunters, wildlife managers and other onlookers Tuesday.
While occasional flocks of ducks winged over, two copters skimmed the lake all afternoon, spraying rotenone, a fish-killing chemical. It was an attempt to eradicate carp, which were discovered just last year in the famed shallow lake.
That discovery alarmed wildlife managers and hunters.
