Oct. 25--Four Mt. Bachelor ski area employees were injured, one seriously, when a chairlift cable they were attempting to splice Friday on the Sunrise Express chair snapped free while being pulled under high tension, causing the cable to whip like an unattended garden hose.
The incident happened during routine maintenance on the high-speed quad's main chairlift cable, according to a report from the Oregon Occupational Safety and Health Division, which is investigating the incident.
