When Hearst Magazines bumped Terry McDone from Esquire to Sports Afield last year, the move raised eyebrows in the publishing community. Rumor had it that McDonell -- who was named editor and publisher of the outdoor mag when Ed Kosner took over as editor-in-chief of Esquire -- was not exactly thrilled with his new slot on the lower-profile publication.
Whatever the case, McDonell seems to have recovered nicely. A freshly revamped Sports Afield hits newsstands this week, and the outlook is encouraging.
