SCHOOL is in session, all is quiet, except for the sound of birds and insects which flit through an award-winning indigenous garden, designed for minimum maintenance and maximum learning.

Stella Hortop, Principal of Durban's Manor Gardens Primary School in Durban, together with the staff, parents and pupils, have transformed the school grounds from barren lawns and bare earth into vibrant indigenous spaces where birds, insects and animals abound.
