Oct. 26--The University of Pennsylvania has become an organ donor.
The 90-foot-tall pipe organ that sat above the stage of the old Convention Hall in West Philly just arrived at the University of Oklahoma in Norman. Penn, which took over Convention Hall and all the former Civic Center property, searched for two years to find it a good home, said Penn exec Kevin Mahoney. Penn paid several hundred thousand dollars to dismantle it, and the recent 1,400-mile move on five semitrailers cost the Sooners $100,000.
