Fischer Boel lambasts UK CAP reform plans.(European Policy News)(Common Agricultural Policy)

EU Farm Commissioner Mariann Fischer Boel criticised the UK government on Monday for its "incoherent" ideas about the future of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP).

Speaking to the UK Parliament's Environment, Food and Rural Affairs select committee, Fischer Boel said there were "assumptions made and conclusions drawn which I have difficulty agreeing with" in a recent UK government paper outlining its vision for the CAP.

Defra, the UK government's department of agriculture, published a report last December stating which aspects of European farm policy it wanted reforming in the next 10-15 years. The main recommendation was the phasing out of all subsidies by 2020.
