Alcohol--in the form of spirits and wine--will head the Council agenda when EU agriculture ministers meet in Luxembourg next week, as the Finnish Presidency tries to win a consensus on the definition of vodka, and administer some final input before the European Commission draws up its decisive plans to reform the EU wine regime.
The Finns want to try and agree a "general approach" to settle the row over the definition of vodka. No vote will be taken on the issue next week, and it will be the Presidency that decides whether a consensus of opinion is emerging or not.
