Agriculture Commissioner Mariann Fischer Boel outlined what she anticipates will be the central axes of reform of the Common Market Organisation (CMO) for fruit and vegetables on 25 October in Strasbourg. Improving competitiveness, reducing fluctuations in producers' revenues in the event of crises, increasing consumption, maintaining high environmental standards and simplifying and, where possible, reducing administrative burdens: these were the principal elements highlighted by the commissioner appearing before the European Parliament's Fruit and Vegetables Intergroup.
