Oct. 26--E. coli, the bacteria that forced the closing of Presque Isle State Park beaches for 17 days this summer, is a more formidable opponent than once thought.
That means finding a solution to the park's beach closings will be even more difficult and challenging than what researchers already faced. It might also require a change in thinking, said Doug Range, the Erie County Health Department's director of environmental services.
