MPs pocketed an average of [pounds sterling]204,000 in pay and perks last year.

The bumper package - revealed in an official report last night - adds up to a salary of [pounds sterling]124 for each working hour.

Together the 646 MPs claimed [pounds sterling]86.7million in expenses and office allowances - [pounds sterling]134,000 each. Their [pounds sterling]60,000 annual salaries cost taxpayers a further [pounds sterling]39 million.
