Oct. 27--The state insurance commissioner's 2005 approval of a controversial Aetna health insurance plan -- and Aetna executives' subsequent donation of $25,000 to the campaign of Gov. M. Jodi Rell -- discredit Rell's claim to be above the influence of special-interest money, Democratic gubernatorial nominee John DeStefano said Thursday. Rell angrily denied his charges, saying DeStefano had reached "a new low." DeStefano touched off the hostilities at a morning press conference in Hartford, accusing Rell of intervening with Insurance Commissioner Susan Cogswell to effect approval of what he said is a "fraudulent health insurance plan" ...
