While the presidency has set aside R10 million of taxpayers' money to help cover Jacob Zuma's legal costs, private fundraising efforts have also been stepped up.

The Friends of Jacob Zuma Trust said in a statement that although his corruption case had been struck off the roll, there were still outstanding legal costs.

It did not elaborate on the amount, but in August it indicated that it would have to raise more than the original estimate of R12 million.
