Oct. 28--It took Bruce Bochy by surprise. He hadn't realized that on April 3, when he manages the Giants on opening day, his opponent will be none other than the San Diego Padres. "I know, I know," Bochy said with a smile. "I just found that out today." Bochy had spent 24 years in the Padres organization, including the past 12 as manager, but he needed to catch a flight north and sit down to dinner at Giants owner Peter Magowan's house to find the vote of confidence he desired.
