A new domestic airline is to take to the skies in South Africa. The prominent black-owned South African investment company Thebe Investments is to fund the startup of its newest project, South African Express Airline, at a cost of US$83m. The airline is due to enter operation by the end of March.
South African Airways (SAA), which has an option to buy shares in South African Express, sees the new airline as a vehicle to help fill its aircraft, which now fly at 60-70% of capacity.
