THE IMF has agreed a three-year economic reform programme supported by new loans and grants and a second round of debt rescheduling through the Paris Club of official creditors, Finance Minister Sami Gammo said in an interview on 12 March.
Gammo also said that the government had hit most economic targets for 1993 and that growth is continuing. Targets for 1994 include cutting public spending as a proportion of the economy and keeping annual price inflation below 5 per cent.
The memorandum of understanding with the IMF was drafted during a two-week visit by a fund team in late February and early March. The memorandum must now go before the cabinet and the IMF ...
