On the eve of a White House effort to address rising Taliban violence in Afghanistan, Pres Hamid Karzai, expressed scepticism about a key agreement to stop potential insurgents from crossing the Pakistani border, saying he will "wait and see" how it will be implemented. Referring to a recent peace agreement struck by Pres Pervez Musharraf of Pakistan related to the North Waziristan region, which borders Afghanistan, Karzai said: My initial impression was that this was a deal signed by the Taliban - and then later I learned that they actually signed with the tribal chiefs.
