Nov. 1--DECATUR -- When 8-year-old Baylee Phillips asked what she should do if a stranger came up to her and wanted to pet her dog, Robert Jones had the answer. "Just say no and walk away," he said. The exchange was part of a dog safety presentation last week by Homeward Bound Pet Shelter to third-graders at the Lutheran School Association, one of several presentations the no-kill shelter has made in schools since Macon Resources, which serves people with developmental disabilities, took over its management on July 1, 2005.
