Unhappy with the performance of quarterback Brad Johnson on Monday night against New England, Vikings coach Brad Childress benched the veteran in favor of Brooks Bollinger. But Childress said after the Vikings' 31-7 loss to New England that he anticipates Johnson will start Sunday at San Francisco.
Johnson's miserable night included a season-high three interceptions - two in the first half - and a 38.1 quarterback rating. He completed 20 of 33 passes for 185 yards before Bollinger entered with 12 minutes, 2 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter.
"Turnovers played into that," Childress said of his decision to replace Johnson. ...
