Nov. 1--Fish, regularly touted as brain food, is also heart healthy.

But that theory, long embraced by nutritionists, physicians and fish purveyors, has come under fire recently with reports that mercury and other contaminants that collect in some fish may pose a health risk.

Two major studies were conducted recently to resolve the confusing advice.

The studies, from the Institute of Medicine and Harvard University, contend that "eating seafood at least twice a week could reduce the risk of heart disease and that the risk from contaminants could be minimized by the choice of fish."
