Nov. 1--The decline of TV movies and specials during sweeps periods has been a noticeable trend in recent seasons. That's partly because of the failure of big events, the end of the CBS Sunday movie and the popularity of several dramatic series. CBS' schedule for the upcoming November sweeps illustrates that sweeps aren't what they used to be.
The lone one-shot event is a Hallmark Hall of Fame Presentation on Nov. 26, "Candles on Bay Street," starring Annabeth Gish, Alicia Silverstone and Polly Bergen. Otherwise, CBS is relying on its popular series, putting some regular characters in jeopardy and showcasing guest ...
