A FLAME retardant for the protection of thermoset resta systems for printed circuit boards, such as epoxy-based FR-4 laminates, has been introduced by Clariant. Exolit OP is non-halogenated to meet the growing demand for ecological flame retardants for use in consumer electronics such as digital cameras, mobile phones, DVD players, laptop computers, and on-board electronics in passenger cars.
Unlike conventional alternatives, says Clariant, the phospinate-based system has thermal stability and an almost neutral behaviour towards dielectric constant/dissipation factor standards. This also makes it possible to use it in high-frequency applications. ...
