Price/Costco was formed Oct. 21, 1993, as a result of a merger of The Price Co. and Costco Wholesale Corp. Price/Costco operates a chain of cash-and-carry membership warehouses, which sell high-quality selected private label and national brand merchandise at low prices to businesses for commercial and personal use, or for resale. They also sell to individuals members of selected employee groups. As of December 1993, the company operated 218 warehouses in 21 states, seven Canadian provinces, and the United Kingdom.
