Nov. 5--What a country. Imagine if businesses marketed consumer goods the way political parties market candidates. You'd turn on the tube each night and hear Coke claim that Pepsi makes you sterile -- followed by a spot in which Pepsi called Coke the favored drink of terrorists. Then some fresh-faced editorialist would come on and tell you it's your civic duty to run out and buy some. As the young folks say, I am so ready for this election to be over. For one thing, the political season makes it almost impossible to have a straightforward discussion of the economy. When campaign fever is high, there's no such thing as ...
