Nov. 5--Republican Gov. M. Jodi Rell hosted a campaign meeting Sept. 18 at the governor's mansion in Hartford to call for a final campaigning and fundraising push -- and, on Friday, Democratic nominee John DeStefano called it the misuse of a state building.
DeStefano said holding what he called a "fundraiser" at the taxpayer-funded building -- where Rell spends fewer nights than at her Brookfield home -- was wrong "for somebody who's trying to define her candidacy on this unparalleled standard of ethics."
Rell's campaign spokesman, Rich Harris, responded that "the allegation itself is absolutely baseless. ... The event was ...
