Nov. 5--Fewer than half of Victoria County's registered voters will cast ballots in the general election this year if one voting official's forecast is correct. "I was hoping we'd get somewhere between 45 and 48 percent turnout, which would have almost matched the 2004 election total," said George Matthews, the Victoria County elections administrator.

"It doesn't seem we're going to get that," he added. "We will probably have 40 to 45 percent turnout for this election, including early voting and Election Day."
