109 cases of osteoarthritis of the knee were scored according to the patient's assessment of pain on a scale of 1-10. The patients' ages ranged from 35 to 86 years, and they had been suffering pain for between 1 month and 6.2 years. Acupuncture treatment with 32# 1-1.5 cun needles was applied to Liangqiu ST-34, Xuehai SP-10, Neixiyan, Xiyan (MN-LE-16), Zusanli ST-36 and ahshi points. Needles were retained for 20 minutes, and two pairs of needles stimulated with densedisperse electroacupuncture.
