Although not officially called on to deliver results, most of the participants at the Internet Governance Forum (IGF), which endeda on 2 November after a four-day conference in Vouliagmeni, a suburb of Athens, reported "substantial progress" compared with previous information society summits. The forum, organised under the aegis of the United Nations, brought together in the region of 1,000 web experts from 90 different countries (see Europolitics 3181).
